this is as of last saturday. still drives so I will see if i can get to the dyno before it finishes itself off.
this happened on the way to Ohio yesterday evening. I managed to limp the car to my cousins house where we dropped the pan and found this mess. replaced the filter and put 8qts of fluid in it and drove it a bit over 200 miles home. There is NO slippage but it makes some nasty noises off throttle. I will give it hell to get a tun on it and see if it will keep together to make some dyno pulls, but that metal came from somewhere.
I wonder if the trans grenading will be an epic event. I'm talking trans fluid spewing, metal chunks blasting into the concrete, and a collective "DAYYYYUM!" from all whitnesses.

Guys, he's running possibly the beefiest ATX you can buy. The MTX is probably weaker, even with cryo'd gears. Wasn't Fred or Tim snapping gearsets?
Alex, your dedication to the SHO is amazing. I'd wonder if it's time to see what other transaxles could be modified to work.
Or what other chassis the motor could go in...
I think I might have over spun this transmission as well as overheated it. My next transmission will have a tilton oil pump pumping fluid to a second transmission cooler. The transmission pump does not flow enough fluid volume to cool this much power. I think that will help tremendously.
nobody has ever broke one of shonuts gear sets, but the shotpiened and chryoed sets still to fail eventually on the MTX's
as far as the other vehicles. I thought I told mentioned my future plans. A adapter plate for SHO engine to GM transmission is in the works. I scored a TH400 stupid cheap and that will be mated to the SHO engine and that will be going in a 3rd gen camaro, and lets just say that will be balls out lets see what this engine can do kind of project. The goal is 600whp and to pull fronts. should be pretty easy with a bottle and a turbo or 2.
edit: You would never believe that after removing all that metal that I drove the car about 200 miles home and it shifts perfect like nothing ever happened. There is a bit of chatter though.
